Course Info

This course is designed for beginners to the world of computing or for those who want to increase their understanding of a personal computer. The class familiarizes students with the inner-workings of personal computers and associated terminology. Specific topics include understanding computer hardware, purchasing and loading software, managing files, troubleshooting common computer problems, exploring the Internet, and understanding the basics of a computer network. Presentations include interactive multimedia computer lessons and classroom lectures.

Part-time courses are available to individuals at least 16 years of age who need technical training for new employment or for upgrading current job skills. Many courses are specifically for those already employed in a particular occupation; prior experience may be required. Students enrolled in another Hillsborough County school are eligible to enroll in classes provided they pay tuition.

Days are coded as follows in this schedule:

  • Monday - M
  • Tuesday - T
  • Wednesday - W
  • Thursday - R
  • Friday - F

    When a class is listed as M,W this means that the class meets on both Monday AND Wednesday nights each week until the final date of the class.

    Students may register one of two ways: by registering online or by registering in person in the Main Office, 1:00PM to 8:00PM ( Monday through Thursday), located in Erwin's main building. Classes are filled on a space available basis.

    Payment of tuition is made at the time of registration unless otherwise noted. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted for tuition and books. All advertised prices for books/supplies do not include taxes and are subject to change. Books are only available for purchase on the first night of class.

    Financial Aid and Veterans Benefits are only available for Full-Time/Job Preparatory Programs.
