TABE Test Scores: 10th Grade Reading, Math and Language

Program Description
This program prepares students to work in a variety of business offices handling all types of administrative duties. Students use a hands-on, self-paced approach to learn software applications such as Windows XP, Word 2007, Access 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, data entry applications, as well as, digital design software.
Students learn to use the Internet to find information, do research, and explore jobs to complete coursework.
Students also take courses in keyboarding, business communication, speedbuilding, workplace readiness and procedures and theory.

Will this program qualify me for a job in customer service?
Yes, students may qualify for jobs such as Customer Service Representative. Written and verbal skills are emphasized in the courses which are high on the list of needed skills. Also, 30 wpm is the required speed students achieve in the Speedbuilding Course, another requirement for a CSR.
What career advancements might this training lead to?
This depends on the job opportunity. Graduates could start at an entry level position, such as Help Desk or Office Assistant and then become an Administrative Assistant.
Are online classes available?
Yes, all of the Business and Marketing programs are partially online. As students are assigned into a class and meet in their classroom, they are able to work on the courses online. They can also work on a computer out of class. All it takes is a computer and internet access, from your home, at a library or at Erwin in the HUB (our Media Center). You can work on your assignments, can get ahead and can also catch up on a class. Assignments are uploaded and instructors communicate with you through e-mail.
Does this mean I don’t have to attend class?
No, you will still have to come to class.

There are many businesses that have computers - from small businesses to large corporations. Employers need people with the advanced skills delivered in the Administrative Assistant Program. Positions can be found in service organizations, banking, medical/health settings, insurance companies, entertainment and leisure providers, automotive dealerships, and governmental agencies. Also, there are many temporary staffing agencies seeking candidates with administrative assistant skills.
