Through hands-on activities and labs, students learn how a computer functions, the proper procedures for computer assembly, safety, installations of components and how to configure and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
Students learn to install, manage, and mantain operating systems with emphasis on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. In addition, students learn the basic fundamentals of networking.
The IT essentials program is a part of the Cisco Networking Academy. Students enrolled in the Academy are able to access the curriculum through the Internet. The curriculum is delivered through a combination of computer-based instruction, in-class lectures, demonstrations and hands-on activities. Assessments are given on line and students can track their own performance.
Basic familiarity with computers, the ability to use Windows, and having Internet access is strongly recommended.
