Welding Technology Standards:
Test of Adult
Basic Education (TABE) Scores: 9 in Reading, Language and Math OR meet TABE exemption (refer to Admissions and Testing)

Please note: Welding certification is NOT available through this program.
The objectives of the Welding Technology course are to develop the manipulative skills and technical knowledge required to pass entry-level employment qualifications for certifications or certification tests.
The course includes instruction and practice in oxy-fuel cutting, manual shielded arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, flux cored arc welding, plasma cutting, carbon arc gouging, math and blueprints for welders.

Will I be a certified welder when I graduate from the program?
No! The students are trained to certification standards but it is much too costly to seek certifications. The instructor can provide more details as needed.
I have a felony; will this reduce my employment opportunities?
Possibly. The date and type of felony are important factors. Employment opportunities are increased for those who have been released from prison or terminated their probation seven or more years ago, especially if there have been no additional significant charges during that time.

Welding is a very diversified field; salaries are also diversified. Entry-level welders can make between $12-$20 per hour. Experienced welders can make from $18,000 - $80,000+ annually.
What skills do successful welding students have in common?
They have good attitudes, demonstrate self-discipline, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to problem solve. A good attendance record and class participation are traits that successful students have in common.
Do students buy their own safety and welding equipment?
Yes, students need to provide their own personal tools and equipment.

Welders are in high demand, therefore; graduates have many options depending on individual skill levels. The welding field is booming in the Tampa Bay Area. Local fabrication and manufacturing shops are hiring from outside the Florida Area.
