General Information
Qualifying students find a wide range of financial aid available at Erwin Technical Center. Students receiving Title IV Federal Assistance are required to have a high school diploma, GED, or satisfy the 'Ability to Benefit' requirements.
Most of Erwin's financial assistance involves the eligibility of the Federal PELL Grant, a government-sponsored program.
There are several different types of Financial Aid available to students at Erwin Technical Center. An Overview of Types of Financial Aid for 2010-2011 is available.
Students' level of eligibility is determined after an application is submitted to the Federal Processing Center.
The form is available at the Erwin Center or can be accessed on the web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov .
What do you need in order to fill out the FAFSA?
You will need your:
Social Security Number
Prior Year Tax Return Documents
Driver's License Number
Current Bank Statement
Mortgage & Investment Records (if any)
Alien Registration Number (if not a U.S. Citizen)
Parents' Tax Return Documents (if a dependent)
In addition, all students must visit the Erwin's Financial Aid Department to complete an Activation Form prior to starting school. This allows the Financial Aid Department to begin processing financial aid on students' behalf. Without completing an Activation Form in a timely manner, students' financial aid may be delayed.

Net Price Calculator
In accordance with the Sec. 111 of the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) and using both student-entered and institution-provided data, the Net Price Calculator allows prospective students to calculate an estimated net price at an institution using the following basic formula: Price of attendance minus grant aid. Based on the information entered by the student, an average net price of attendance is generated based on what similar students paid in previous year.
The estimates generated by the template do not represent a final determination, or actual award, of financial assistance or a final net price; they are only estimates based on price of attendance and financial aid provided to students in a given year. The estimates shall not be binding on the Secretary of Education, the institution of higher education, or the State.

Information and applications may be obtained in the Career Planning office and from the Scholarship Bulletin Board outside the Student Services Office.
