Refunds for the costs of the Criminal Background Check and drug screenings are NOT granted for these circumstances.

Program Description
The Medical Clinical Laboratory Technician Program is an Applied Technology Diploma program which guarantees transfer of 40 credit hours statewide to any community or junior college offering the Medical Laboratory Technician A.S. degree program. Students are prepared to become capable laboratory technicians who work in many areas of the medical laboratory including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank. The program includes an internship in an approved laboratory facility.

Graduates are qualified to take the MLT certification exam administered by the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
Graduates with an associate's or bachelor's degree from an approved accredited institution may take the MT exam administered by the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
Students have a number of career choices including hospitals, private laboratories, clinics, doctor’s offices, public health laboratories, and research laboratories.

Medical clinical laboratory technicians perform laboratory tests in the areas of Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Immunology. These tests check the makeup of blood, urine, tissues and other body fluids for indications and signs of disease to aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment.

What are the licensure requirements for this program?
The purpose of the Medical Clinical Laboratory Technician Program is to prepare students for employment as medical clinical lab technicians. The program content includes, but is not limited to, didactic and laboratory performance of routine procedures in Hematology, Immunology, Urinalysis, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Chemistry including the use of common laboratory instruments.
The program instructor provides students with information about the application process for the certification exam including the websites used to complete this process. Students choose one out of the two certification agencies (AMT or AAB).
The American Medical Technologists (AMT) www.AMTI.org , requires applicants to successfully complete an accredited MLT program and submit the appropriate application and fee. Numerous state-wide testing dates, times, and locations are available.
The American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), www.AAB.org requires applicants to successfully complete an accredited clinical laboratory training program and submit an application fee and a certification fee. The test is given four times a year at various Florida locations.
Once students have passed the exam they become certified and are eligible to apply to the State of Florida for their license. If students have completed the program and are waiting to take the exam, they may receive a temporary license to work in Florida. If students fail the exam, temporary licenses are immediately revoked. Students are allowed to retake the exam if they fail it the first time.
